Quite an affordable lunch. I came by to do some reading in the library and thought I'd have lunch too! One of my friends recommended this place to me before. I had the Hashbrown Burrito. I love hashbrowns and $6 for this big of a burrito is a pretty awesome deal! They taste pretty good in my opinion, and they even serve nacho chips on the side. The staff was nice, did her job really well too. Only one was working the shift every time, so there was a lot of waiting since she also had to serve other customers. I think it'd be faster if there were 2 staff working the shift during rush hour. Other than that, it's a pretty peaceful place to read/study/work in and eat.

Lady at the counter was so welcoming, not to mention she made me the best hot chocolate! Their hashbrown burritos are a true highlight. Quite the smart idea to have Guild connected to the library.

Fantastic cafe with limited choice of foods, but very yummy with great staff and reasonably priced. It’s a very quiet hall to dine in. Well done!

I like this café. The staff are generally easy going and affable. The coffee is decent and the sandwiches are good (especially the rare beef ). Seating can be limited, especially mid morning and I predict it will be worse as school and uni exams approach. This café is on the northern side of the State Library Victoria’s Russell St entrance “Welcome Zone” it features large windows, beautiful floorboards and tall ceilings supported by Grecian columns. Although the café is has a steady stream of clientele, the space is quiet enough to hear yourself think. (If you’re looking for somewhere silent: use a reading room... strictly no food or coffee tho) I’m not sure why another reviewer complained about single use cups... I don’t like disposable coffee cups myself. I bring my reusable cup and they accept it, no problems. If I forget it; I ask “coffee to have here” and they serve it in a china cup. Coffee isn’t exactly cheap; a small will set you back $4.30 My only gripe is that they start to shut down over ½ hr before their published close...

Edit: Back to 5-Stars! BIG UP staff who give a damn. Thank you to the staff member who came in after the dude left. I went up and got a tea just because I was happy to see someone other than the rude dude. I’m leaving my previous review below. This was a 5 star place — until today. I don’t know what today’s staff person’s problem was, but I can tell you his service was trash. Dude is in here acting like people are bothering him coming to spend their money. The 1st 3 times I went made me look forward to going often. Then I get the “what do want” treatment twice! Watched the food I ordered get throw into a bag and when I walked up there to grab the chicken wrap and the large Mocha I ordered he looks at me like I’m a nuisance. Dude then asks me what I want and I much kinder than he deserved reminded him that I ordered a large Mocha. To which he says, “Oh,” then reaches for my drink that was just sitting there. The drink he obviously forgot about. I’m not going to knock the place. The atmosphere is on point. The other staff folks give excellent service. I planned on leaving a glowing review today, because I hadn’t yet. I had to drop it to a 2-star. The guy who is working right now is problematic. When I come again, if he is working — I will make sure I go somewhere else. Food just thrown in the bag!
